Hill-shaped streets
Rather than forming a grid, the town's streets bend with the terrain, producing curved lines and irregular blocks that give the map a hand-drawn quality.

Bou Hadjar lies in El Tarf province, in the northeastern corner of Algeria, not far from the border with Tunisia. This is one of the wetter and greener parts of the country, with wooded hills, cultivated valleys and a network of streams. On the map, the town appears as a compact settlement set into this rolling terrain rather than spread across a plain.
The streets respond to the land around them. Roads curve to follow contours and valleys, and the built area gathers along a few main routes before thinning into farmland and scrub. The result is a town plan without a rigid grid, shaped more by gradient and water than by planning on paper, and it gives Bou Hadjar an irregular, organic outline.
A Bou Hadjar map poster reduces this landscape to its essentials: the knot of streets at the centre, the roads winding out toward neighbouring communes and the open land beyond. It is a restrained, personal image, well suited to those who grew up in El Tarf province or whose families still live in the hills of the northeast.
Rather than forming a grid, the town's streets bend with the terrain, producing curved lines and irregular blocks that give the map a hand-drawn quality.
Bou Hadjar sits close to the Tunisian frontier in Algeria's northeastern corner, and the roads leaving town head out across the hills toward other small communes of the province.
Around the built-up area, the map opens into farmland, woodland and valleys, leaving wide empty space that lets the compact town centre stand out clearly.

Ko e ha Bou Hadjar
A map of Bou Hadjar often makes a gift across distance, for relatives abroad or for someone who left the northeast for a larger city. The simple black lines hold the memory of streets and hillsides without needing any words.
The title, subtitle and coordinates line can all be changed, so the poster can carry a family name, a date or a short dedication. Choose Classic black & white, Noir, Paper, Blueprint or Sand, and get the digital HD files for $9 or a printed poster on matte paper.
