Ko e mape
Braga lies in the Minho region of northern Portugal, in a valley drained by the small Este River and ringed by green hills. From above, the historic centre forms a compact cluster of streets and squares around the cathedral, surrounded by later neighbourhoods and modern ring roads. To the east the land climbs steeply toward the wooded slopes of Bom Jesus and Sameiro.
Founded by the Romans as Bracara Augusta, Braga later became the seat of powerful archbishops and is often called the city of archbishops. Its cathedral is among the oldest in Portugal, and the Baroque sanctuary of Bom Jesus do Monte, with its zigzag staircase climbing the hillside, was inscribed as a UNESCO World Heritage site in 2019.
A Braga map poster captures the transition from the tight medieval core to the university districts and residential hills around it. The main avenues, the green spaces of the city parks and the winding roads up to the sanctuary all appear clearly, and in black and white the city reads almost like an engraved plan.
Narrow streets and small squares gather around the cathedral and the Arcada, forming a dense core. On the map this area stands out as the darkest, most finely detailed part of the city.
The sanctuary's famous staircase and its approach roads climb the hillside east of Braga. On the poster the zigzagging paths trace an unusual pattern among the forested slopes.
The University of Minho campus sits on the north-eastern side of the city, its buildings arranged in open, spacious blocks that contrast with the tight historic streets.

Ko e ha Braga
Braga is a city people become attached to, whether through study at the university, a pilgrimage to Bom Jesus or family roots in the Minho. A map of its centre and hills makes a thoughtful print for a new home or a gift for a graduate.
Personalise the title, subtitle and coordinates line, and choose between Classic black & white, Noir, Paper, Blueprint and Sand. Paper suits the historic centre well, while Noir gives the winding hillside roads a quiet, nocturnal feel.
