Ko e mape
Chenini Nahal lies on the western edge of Gabès in southern Tunisia, within the Gabès oasis. This is one of the few coastal oases in the Mediterranean region, where a palm grove grows close to the sea. From above, the area is a dense mass of greenery crossed by lanes and irrigation channels, with desert land beyond.
The oasis is traditionally farmed in layers: date palms form the high canopy, fruit trees grow beneath them, and vegetables and fodder crops are planted at ground level. Water is shared through a network of small channels. On the map, the gardens appear as a finely divided patchwork, with houses clustered along paths and roads.
A Chenini Nahal map poster captures the intricate structure of the oasis: winding lanes, garden plots and the edges where cultivation gives way to dry ground. In black and white, the fine texture becomes an abstract pattern. It is a meaningful print for people from Gabès and for anyone who has walked through its palm groves.

Narrow channels distribute water through the gardens, their branching lines visible alongside the winding paths that connect houses and plots.
