Ko e mape
Ciudad del Este sits on the western bank of the Paraná River in eastern Paraguay, directly opposite the Brazilian city of Foz do Iguaçu. The Friendship Bridge links the two, and it is the fixed point from which the city's map unfolds. The main avenues run west from the bridgehead, and the dense commercial centre crowds the high ground above the river.
Founded in 1957, the city grew rapidly, and its layout reflects that pace, with a central grid giving way to broad residential districts and arterial roads heading west toward Asunción. The Lago de la República, a small lake near the centre, adds a quiet curve to the pattern, while the Paraná forms a deep, steep-sided line along the eastern edge.
The city lies close to the Triple Frontier, where Paraguay, Brazil and Argentina meet at the junction of the Paraná and Iguazú rivers just to the south. It is known as a major trading hub, and the Itaipu Dam, one of the world's largest hydroelectric plants, stands upstream to the north. A Ciudad del Este map poster frames the river border and the bridge in one view.

The river runs in a deep valley along the eastern edge of the city, a strong natural boundary that also marks the frontier between Paraguay and Brazil.
This small lake near the centre breaks up the urban grid with a soft, irregular outline and a ring of green space, a calm feature among the busy commercial streets.

Ko e ha Ciudad del Este
A Ciudad del Este map speaks to people who have lived on both sides of the river, to families in the Alto Paraná region and to travellers who crossed the bridge on their way to the falls. The border setting gives it a strong story.
Title it with your neighbourhood or a year, and choose a subtitle and coordinates to match. Select from Classic black & white, Noir, Paper, Blueprint and Sand. Digital files arrive in six print sizes for $9, and printed, optionally framed posters are also available.
