Ko e mape
Cocal do Sul is a municipality in the south of Santa Catarina, in the orbit of Criciúma and near the coastal plain that runs toward the Atlantic. From above, the town is compact and slightly irregular: a central area with a main street, residential blocks climbing low hills, and farmland and wooded patches filling the gaps between neighbourhoods.
Like much of this part of Brazil, the area was settled by Italian immigrants in the late nineteenth century, and that heritage still shows in family names, churches and local festivals. The town's economy is closely linked to the ceramic tile industry that grew strongly in the Criciúma region, and larger industrial plots stand out clearly on the map.
A Cocal do Sul map poster captures the modest scale of the place: streets that bend around slopes, a clear centre, and scattered rural roads leading off toward neighbouring towns. It works well as a gift for someone who grew up here or who moved away to one of Brazil's larger cities.
Residential streets follow the rolling ground rather than a strict grid, producing gentle curves and irregular blocks that give the map a relaxed rhythm.
Larger plots associated with the region's ceramics industry appear as broad, simple shapes, contrasting with the finer texture of houses and streets around them.
Beyond the built-up area, country roads connect farms and neighbouring communities, fading gradually into open land toward the edges of the poster.
