Coco Island, usually known in English as Cocos Island, lies far out in the Pacific Ocean, several hundred kilometres southwest of the Costa Rican mainland. The whole island and the surrounding sea are a national park and a UNESCO World Heritage Site. Apart from park rangers, it has no residents, and visitors mostly arrive on liveaboard diving boats.
The island is small and mountainous, covered in dense rainforest and fed by very heavy rainfall. Its coast is mostly steep cliffs, with many waterfalls dropping from the high ground into the sea. Only a few bays, including Chatham Bay and Wafer Bay on the northern side, offer sheltered anchorage and access to land.
A Coco Island map poster is mostly outline and water, with the terrain inside suggested rather than built up. The waters around the island are famous among divers for large schools of hammerhead sharks and other marine life. Stories of pirate treasure hidden on the island have also circulated for centuries, drawing treasure hunters long before divers.
Chatham Bay and Wafer Bay cut into the northern coast, the only gentle breaks in an otherwise steep and cliff-lined shoreline.
Most of the island ends abruptly at the sea, giving the outline a sharp, uneven edge, with waterfalls pouring over the cliffs.
The island sits alone in deep water far from any other land, so a large expanse of sea surrounds its small form on the print.

Ko e ha Coco Island
For divers, Coco Island is a destination many work towards for years, and a map of it is a fitting souvenir of a rare trip. Its compact shape and remoteness also appeal to anyone who collects distant islands or dreams of visiting one.
You can personalise the title, subtitle and coordinates line, for example with a boat name or dive dates, and choose from Classic black & white, Noir, Paper, Blueprint and Sand. Noir gives the open ocean a deep, dramatic tone.
