Ko e mape
Devínska Nová Ves is a borough on the north-western edge of Bratislava, the Slovak capital, lying on the left bank of the Morava where the river forms the border with Austria. On the map, it is bounded by water on one side and by the wooded hills of Devínska Kobyla on the other, with the built-up area stretched between them.
The old village core lies near the river, with short streets and older houses, while larger housing estates from the later twentieth century spread to the east. To the north, a large Volkswagen plant covers a wide area of flat land, its halls forming a distinctive grid of rectangles on the map, and a railway line runs along the valley.
The borough has a long connection to the Croatian community that settled here in the sixteenth century, and the Sandberg site on Devínska Kobyla is known for fossils from an ancient sea. A Devínska Nová Ves map poster brings together the river border, the housing estates and the industrial grid in one unusual composition.
The river traces the western edge of the borough, marking the border with Austria and giving the map a long, meandering natural boundary.
The wooded hill rising to the south forms a large green area on the poster, a protected landscape known for its fossils and wide views.
The car plant's large rectangular halls and access roads create a precise pattern on the northern side, a sharp contrast to the curving river and the hill.
