Donauwörth sits where two rivers meet, and that is what you see first on the map. The Danube runs across the south of the town in a broad curve, and the smaller Wörnitz comes down from the north to join it. Between their channels lies the Ried, a small island that carries part of the old town. Bridges connect it to the banks, and the rest of the town climbs the slope to the north.
The historic center has an unusually clear shape. The Reichsstraße, a long and very wide market street, rises gently up the hill as one continuous line, with narrower lanes branching off on either side. Donauwörth was once a free imperial city, and that main street reflects the trade route it served. Today the town lies on the Romantic Road, the tourist route running through Bavaria and Baden-Württemberg.
A Donauwörth map poster turns this layout into a clean composition: two rivers joining, the island between them, the old main street pointing uphill, and newer districts and roads spreading out beyond. Railway lines and bridges cross the water at several points. The result is a compact map with a lot of structure, held together by the meeting of the waters.

A small island between river arms holds part of the historic town. Its outline, surrounded by water and linked by short bridges, is one of the most recognisable details on the poster.
The wide main street runs up the hill from the river as a single strong line. Next to the tighter side lanes it is easy to pick out, even at small print sizes.
