Douane lies in Nabeul Governorate in north-eastern Tunisia, on the Cap Bon peninsula near the city of Nabeul and close to the shores of the Gulf of Hammamet. From above, the area shows the typical pattern of this coast: compact blocks of low houses, main roads running parallel to the sea, and a patchwork of gardens and orchards filling the spaces between settlements.
Cap Bon is one of the most agricultural parts of Tunisia, known for citrus groves and market gardens, and its coast has long attracted holidaymakers. On a map, that mix appears as a dense urban strip along the main roads, looser streets toward the farmland, and the long, gentle line of the coast with its sandy beaches.
A Douane map poster presents this corner of Cap Bon in clean black lines, with the sea as a calm field at one edge and the street pattern gradually thinning inland. It is a restrained composition, suited to those who live here, have family in the area or have spent summers on this coast.
The Mediterranean coastline nearby forms a long, gently curving edge, separating the open water from the built-up strip that follows the shore.
Main routes run roughly parallel to the sea, linking the town with Nabeul and other communities along Cap Bon, and anchoring the local street pattern.
Inland, the street pattern loosens into lanes between gardens and citrus groves, adding a finer, irregular texture to the edges of the composition.
