Ko e mape
Geita lies in northwestern Tanzania, inland from the southern shores of Lake Victoria, on gently rolling country of low hills and farmland. From above, the town has a busy core of short streets around the market and bus stand. Main roads lead out from there toward the lake ports and neighbouring district towns, and new plots and dirt tracks are gradually filling the land between them.
Gold has shaped Geita more than anything else. A large mine operates close to the town, and the growth of the mining industry turned a modest settlement into the capital of its own region, created in 2012. A Geita map poster shows a town still taking shape, where planned roads and informal lanes sit side by side.
Because the town is growing quickly, its edges look different from one year to the next. Fields become houses and footpaths become roads. A print made now records the town as it is at this point in that change, which is part of its value for people who live and work there.
The densest part of the map is the knot of short streets around the central market and transport stand, where the main roads come together.
Main routes run out from the centre across the plateau and link Geita with the Lake Victoria shore and other towns in the region. They form a loose star pattern.
At the outskirts, planned blocks meet irregular tracks and open ground. The pattern shows a young regional capital still spreading into the countryside.

Ko e ha Geita
For anyone who has lived or worked in Geita, including miners, engineers, teachers and families who came with the town's growth, a map of its streets is a personal record of a place few outsiders know. It suits a home office or a gift for a colleague leaving the region.
Add a title, a subtitle with the years you spent there, and a coordinates line for a specific place. Choose from five styles: Classic black and white, Noir, Paper, Blueprint or Sand. Blueprint suits a mining engineer's desk, and Paper feels warmer for a living room.
