The northern end of Lake Kivu forms the southern edge of the city. Its bays and small headlands create an irregular waterline that contrasts with the street network above it.

Ko e mape
Goma sits on the northern shore of Lake Kivu in the North Kivu province of the Democratic Republic of the Congo. On a map, the lake forms a broad, irregular edge along the south of the city. The international border with Rwanda meets the shoreline to the east, where Goma runs straight into the neighbouring town of Gisenyi.
North of the city rises Nyiragongo, one of the most active volcanoes in Africa. Lava flows from its eruptions reached Goma in 2002 and again approached the city in 2021. The 2002 flow covered part of the airport runway and cut through the centre, and much of the city now stands on hardened volcanic rock.
A Goma map poster shows the city between these two strong forces, the water to the south and the mountain to the north. The streets spread across the gentle slope between them, and the long straight runway stands out among them. The indented shoreline of Lake Kivu gives the lower half of the composition a soft, irregular edge.
The northern end of Lake Kivu forms the southern edge of the city. Its bays and small headlands create an irregular waterline that contrasts with the street network above it.
The long, straight runway is one of the clearest lines on the map. Part of it was covered by lava in 2002, a reminder of how close the volcano is.
To the east, Goma meets Gisenyi at the international border. On a map the two towns look like one continuous urban area along the lakeshore.

Ko e ha Goma
Goma means a great deal to the people who live there, to aid workers and to researchers who have spent time in the city. The contrast of lake and volcanic slope gives the poster a strong sense of place without needing any extra detail.
You can personalise the title, subtitle and coordinates line with a name, a date or a short phrase. There are five styles: Classic black & white, Noir, Paper, Blueprint and Sand. Blueprint shows the lake especially well.
