Ko e mape
Guochuan is a small town in Gansu province in northwestern China, in the southeastern part of the province where the Loess Plateau meets more rugged hill country. The land here is formed from deep deposits of fine, wind-blown soil, cut by gullies and valleys. Settlements tend to sit on the valley floors, where the ground is flatter and roads can follow the watercourses.
From above, the landscape around towns like Guochuan is marked by terracing, as generations of farmers have cut the loess slopes into stepped fields. On a map, those terraces and the winding valley roads create a strong, rhythmic texture. The town itself forms a compact cluster of streets along the valley, with smaller villages spread along side valleys and up onto the hills.
A Guochuan map poster shows the town as part of its terrain: the main streets in the valley, the roads following the land, and the open, folded country around it. Little about the town appears in English sources, so the poster keeps to the geography. For people from the area, it is a precise and personal picture of home.

Nearby hillsides are shaped into stepped fields typical of the Loess Plateau. They give the surrounding landscape a layered, contour-like texture.
Roads follow gullies and ridgelines to connect Guochuan with nearby villages. Their curving lines reflect the folded terrain of southeastern Gansu.

Ko e ha Guochuan
Many people from rural Gansu now live in larger cities far from home. A map of Guochuan is a quiet way to keep the town on the wall. The title, subtitle and coordinates line can hold a family name, a year or a short dedication.
