Ko e mape
Hajnówka lies in the Podlasie region of northeastern Poland, near the border with Belarus, on the western edge of the Białowieża Forest. The town grew quickly in the early twentieth century around railway lines and sawmills that processed timber from the forest. That industrial origin still shows in its layout, with rail corridors, broad plots and practically arranged streets.
From above, the most striking feature is the forest itself, a vast dark mass that begins almost at the edge of town. The Białowieża Forest is one of the last remnants of the primeval lowland forest that once covered much of Europe, and it is a UNESCO World Heritage Site. Hajnówka is also known for its Orthodox Holy Trinity church and a festival of Orthodox church music.
A Hajnówka map poster places the town’s grid against that green boundary. The contrast between the built-up area and the unbroken forest is dramatic in black and white. Railway lines and roads reach toward Białowieża like threads leading into the trees, and the edge of the woodland becomes the defining line of the print.
The Białowieża Forest begins on the town’s eastern side, and on the map the transition from streets to unbroken woodland is sharp and graphic.
Tracks that once carried timber out of the forest still cut through the town, forming long lines that shaped the early layout of its streets and plots.
The town has a strong Orthodox community. Its Holy Trinity church, with a distinctive modern design, stands within the street grid as a local landmark.

For visitors who came for bison and ancient oaks, and for families from the Podlasie borderland, Hajnówka is both a gateway and a home. The map frames it as the meeting point between a working town and a primeval forest.
