Hannan occupies a narrow band of land at the southern end of Osaka Prefecture, between the shore of Osaka Bay and the Izumi mountains. On the map the city is long and thin. Its built-up areas are concentrated along the coast and the railway lines that run parallel to it. Inland, the streets quickly give way to farmland, reservoirs and forested hills.
Hannan became a city in 1991 and grew as a residential area within commuting distance of Osaka. Several distinct neighbourhoods line up along the shore, each with its own station and local centre. As a result, the map shows a chain of small settlements rather than a single dense core.
A Hannan map poster captures the city's clear three-part structure: the smooth line of the coast, the band of streets and railways beside it, and the hills rising behind. Small irrigation ponds scattered across the lower slopes add a distinctive detail. In the black-and-white print they appear as neat shapes among the fields.
The coastline runs along one side of the city in a long, clean line. It gives the print a strong edge against which the streets and railways are arranged.
Parallel rail lines follow the coast through the city, with stations anchoring a string of compact residential neighbourhoods along their length.
Forested slopes rise behind the city towards the prefectural border with Wakayama, with farm ponds and small fields scattered across the lower ground.

Ko e ha Hannan
Many families in Hannan commute to Osaka but live between the sea and the hills. A poster of its coastal streets suits someone who grew up there, moved there for more space, or simply likes a map with such a clear shape.
The title, subtitle and coordinates can all be changed, so the poster can mark a neighbourhood, a station or a year. Choose Noir, Paper, Sand, Blueprint or Classic black & white. Download the HD files for $9, or order a matte print with an optional frame.
