Ko e mape
Hòa Bình lies in northern Vietnam, where the Da River emerges from the mountains and heads toward the Red River delta. On a map the river dominates, curving through the city and dividing it into neighbourhoods on each bank. Streets gather close to the water and along the main roads, while forested hills rise steeply around the edges and limit how far the city can spread.
The city is best known for the Hòa Bình hydroelectric dam, completed in the 1990s with Soviet assistance and for many years the largest power plant in Southeast Asia. Behind it, a long reservoir fills the valleys upstream. The region is also home to the Mường people, whose villages and stilt houses are found in the surrounding hills.
A Hòa Bình map poster shows how closely a city can be shaped by its river. The Da appears as a broad, calm band, the dam as a firm line across it, and the hills as empty space framing the streets. In black and white, the composition feels almost architectural, a clear record of water and engineering.
The river curves through the city in a wide band, dividing it into two banks and giving the poster its strongest and most memorable shape.
Just upstream, the dam crosses the valley as a solid line, the point where the long reservoir ends and the river continues on toward the city.
Steep, forested hills close in around the valley, leaving the edges of the map open and emphasising how the streets follow the river floor.

Ko e ha Hòa Bình
Hòa Bình matters to people who grew up in the valley, worked on or around the dam, or have family ties to the Mường communities nearby. A map of the city is a restrained way to honour that connection in a home far from the mountains.
