Iona is an unincorporated community in Lee County, Florida, southwest of Fort Myers. It lies near the mouth of the Caloosahatchee River, where the river widens toward San Carlos Bay and the barrier islands beyond. From above, the landscape is mostly water: canals, lagoons and mangrove shorelines.
The street pattern is typical of coastal southwest Florida. Residential neighbourhoods are laid out around dredged canals, so many streets end in cul-de-sacs or run like fingers into the water, giving houses direct boat access. Larger arterial roads cross the area and connect it with Fort Myers and the route west toward Sanibel.
