Janeng is a village in the South-East District of Botswana, in the south of the country near the border with South Africa. From above, it has the open, low-density pattern typical of settlements in this region: homesteads set on generous plots, a loose web of roads and tracks, and wide areas of bush and grazing land in between.
The South-East District is the smallest of Botswana's districts by area but among the most densely settled, lying close to Gaborone and the main routes to South Africa.
