Amaravathi riverbed
The wide, mostly sandy bed of the Amaravathi curves past the town before joining the Kaveri a little downstream. On paper it becomes a broad pale ribbon that frames the northern edge of the streets.

Karur sits on the plains of western Tamil Nadu, where the Amaravathi River flows north to meet the Kaveri. From above, the town grows out from the south bank of the Amaravathi. Its older core packs short lanes tightly around the temple district, and newer neighbourhoods spread outward along the roads to Tiruchirappalli, Salem, Dindigul and Erode.
Karur is one of the oldest continuously inhabited places in the region and appears in early Tamil literature as a Chera centre. Today it is best known for its home textiles. Handloom and powerloom units make bed linen, curtains and table covers for export, and the town is also a long-established centre for building bus and truck bodies.
A Karur map poster shows a town defined by rivers and roads more than by any planned grid. The pale band of the Amaravathi's sandy bed crosses the frame, the Kaveri runs a short distance north, and the streets gather into a dense knot at the centre before thinning into farmland and scattered industrial plots.
The wide, mostly sandy bed of the Amaravathi curves past the town before joining the Kaveri a little downstream. On paper it becomes a broad pale ribbon that frames the northern edge of the streets.
The oldest part of Karur is a close weave of narrow streets around its principal Shiva temple. The lines grow noticeably finer and denser here than in the newer residential areas outside it.
National and state highways leave Karur toward Tiruchirappalli, Salem, Madurai and Coimbatore. They form clear spokes on the map that carry development out into the surrounding fields.

Ko e ha Karur
Karur often means family, work and the textile trade to the people who hang it. It suits people who grew up among the looms or who still do business with the town, and the river-edged centre makes a quiet, recognisable composition for a home office or hallway.
You can change the title and subtitle and add a date or the coordinates line, for example to mark a wedding or a first shop. Choose Classic black and white, Noir, Paper, Blueprint or Sand, then download the HD files for $9 or order a matte print, framed if you like.
