Ko e mape
Kasangati is a town in Wakiso District, just north of Kampala, in the wider belt of settlements that has grown quickly as the capital expands. It lies along the Gayaza road corridor. From above, the map shows a strong arterial line, with neighbourhoods spreading onto the surrounding hills and down toward lower, wetter ground in the valleys.
Like much of the Kampala region, Kasangati sits on rounded hills separated by valleys and wetlands, and the street network follows that relief. Main roads keep to higher or firmer ground, while smaller lanes wind between homes, shops and garden plots. Trading centres and markets cluster where roads meet, forming denser pockets in a generally open layout.
A Kasangati map poster presents this pattern clearly: a firm main road, loops of residential lanes on the hillsides and wide unbuilt spaces where the land dips. It is a modern, changing town rather than a historic one. A map of it captures one moment in its growth, which gives it real personal value.
The main road north from Kampala runs through Kasangati. It forms the backbone of the map and the line along which shops, services and new building have concentrated.
Residential lanes curve across the slopes of the surrounding hills, producing looping, irregular street patterns that contrast with the straightness of the main road.
Low, damp ground between the hills is largely unbuilt. It appears as open space on the map, separating neighbourhoods and giving the composition room to breathe.
