Kassambya is in the Kagera region of north-western Tanzania, inland from the western shore of Lake Victoria and not far from the border with Uganda. On a map the settlement looks spread out, not dense: homesteads and small clusters of buildings linked by earth roads and footpaths, with banana gardens and fields in between.
