Ko e mape
Kawalu is a district of the city of Tasikmalaya in West Java, on the southern side of the urban area. On a map, it is where the city begins to open out. Denser streets in the north give way to scattered villages, small roads and wide areas of farmland. The result is a gradual transition from city to countryside.
The land here is used mainly for rice cultivation, and the fields form a fine, irregular patchwork between settlements. Small roads and paths wind between them, often following the edges of fields or streams rather than a planned grid. Houses cluster along these routes, creating a map pattern of lines lined with small shapes.
Beyond the district, the terrain of West Java becomes more hilly and volcanic. A Kawalu map poster shows this edge-of-city landscape: the tighter streets closer to Tasikmalaya's centre, the winding lanes of the villages and open land in between. It is a detailed, organic composition, quite different from a typical urban grid.
The northern part of the district joins the denser streets of Tasikmalaya. On the map, this is where the pattern changes from urban blocks to a looser layout.
Farmland fills much of the district and is divided into small, irregular plots. From above, the fields form a fine, soft texture between the villages.
Narrow roads wind between the fields and settlements, following streams and field edges. Houses line these routes and create a delicate, branching pattern.
