Ko e mape
Kinarut lies on the west coast of Sabah, in Malaysian Borneo, in the Papar district south of Kota Kinabalu. The map shows a narrow coastal plain with the sea to the west and hills rising inland to the east, and the town strung along the main coastal road between them. Villages, plantations and small rivers fill the flat ground, giving the edges a scattered, irregular pattern.
The Sabah State Railway runs along this coast, and Kinarut has its own stop on the line toward Papar and Beaufort, so road and rail travel close together through the area. Its position within easy reach of the state capital makes it both a local centre for nearby villages and a quieter place to live near the city.
A Kinarut map poster is shaped by the coastline, which gives the frame a strong natural edge, and by the parallel lines of road and rail that follow it. Blueprint suits the seaside setting, and Classic black & white brings out the contrast between the denser centre and the open plain. Including the shore gives the composition its balance.
Flat ground between the sea and the hills holds the town, its villages and fields, a narrow band that runs north to south across the map.
The coastal highway and the Sabah State Railway run close together through Kinarut, two long parallel lines that organise the entire composition.
The coastline to the west forms a clean, continuous edge, with small river mouths breaking it at intervals along the plain.
