Koganei lies in the Tama area of western Tokyo, on the JR Chuo Line between Mitaka and Kokubunji. From above, it is a fine-grained residential city, with narrow streets and small plots packed tightly between larger green spaces. The broad outline of Koganei Park fills much of the north. In the south, the Nogawa river runs along the foot of a long wooded slope known locally as the hake.
Koganei Park is one of the largest parks in Tokyo and is famous for its cherry trees. It contains the Edo-Tokyo Open Air Architectural Museum, where historic houses and shops from across the city have been moved and preserved. Koganei is also home to Tokyo Gakugei University and a campus of Hosei University, which add large open blocks to the map.
A Koganei map poster balances two textures: the dense mesh of Tokyo residential streets, and the calm, open shapes of park, campus and riverside. It suits residents and alumni, and anyone who has spent a spring afternoon under the cherry trees. It is also a quieter alternative to a map of central Tokyo.
The park covers a wide area in the north of the city. Its large open shape, crossed by curving paths, is instantly recognisable against the tight streets around it.
A long wooded slope, the edge of an ancient river terrace, runs across the south of the city. The streets bend to follow it.
Below the slope, the small Nogawa river flows in a gently curving channel lined with walking paths. It is a soft natural line through the residential grid.

Ko e ha Koganei
Koganei is the kind of place people grow attached to quietly, through years of study, a first apartment or walks in the park. Add a personal title and a subtitle with a date, and keep or change the coordinates line to suit.
Paper and Sand suit the city's leafy character, Noir and Blueprint give a modern contrast, and Classic black and white is the most versatile choice. The $9 download covers six sizes, including A3 and A2, and printed posters ship from partners in over 30 countries.
