Kuala Nerus lies on the Terengganu coast, just north of Kuala Terengganu across the mouth of the Terengganu River. From above, the long, straight shoreline of the South China Sea forms one edge of the map. Residential areas, villages and roads spread inland across low, flat ground, broken by the airport, campus grounds and patches of green.
Sultan Mahmud Airport, which serves the state capital, is in Kuala Nerus, and its runway is one of the clearest features on the map.
