Laferrere is one of the largest localities in La Matanza, the most populous partido of Greater Buenos Aires. Like much of the conurbation it sits on perfectly flat ground, and the map reflects this with a near-continuous grid of small square blocks stretching in every direction. Only a handful of wider avenues and the railway line interrupt the steady rhythm of the streets.
The railway, part of the Belgrano Sur line, runs through the district, and the town's commercial centre formed around its station. From there, residential blocks extend outward with little variation, occasionally broken by a plaza, a school ground or a sports field. The result on paper is a fine, woven texture that looks almost like fabric when printed at larger sizes.
The town takes its name from Gregorio de Laferrère, the playwright and politician whose family owned the land on which it was founded in the early twentieth century. A Laferrere map poster suits the place well: a straightforward image of a working suburb built one block at a time, with nothing added and nothing hidden.
Small, regular blocks cover almost the entire area, producing a dense and even pattern that shows how the suburbs of Buenos Aires expanded across the open pampa.
The Belgrano Sur line crosses Laferrere, and the streets around its station form the local commercial centre, a slightly busier knot in an otherwise uniform network.
A few long avenues cut across the grid and connect Laferrere with neighbouring localities of La Matanza, giving the composition its main lines and helping the eye find its way.

This is a map for people who grew up in La Matanza or still have family there. Its uniform grid may seem ordinary at street level, but framed on a wall it becomes a quiet, graphic portrait of a neighbourhood and its daily routes.
Set a custom title, add a subtitle such as a street name or a year, and adjust the coordinates line. The map comes in Classic black & white, Noir, Paper, Blueprint and Sand, as $9 HD files or as a printed poster on matte paper.
