Ko e mape
Lafia is the capital of Nasarawa State in central Nigeria, set in broad, gently rolling country north of the Benue River. Roads shape most of its map. The main highway through town and the routes branching from it form the backbone, and neighbourhoods have grown outward along them into the surrounding farmland.
The town became a state capital when Nasarawa State was created in 1996. That change brought government buildings, new residential areas and, later, a federal university. On the map, this growth shows as newer, more regular street layouts added around an older centre of denser, less planned lanes.
The surrounding region is largely agricultural, and the land between districts remains open. A Lafia map poster brings out this structure: a central core, long road corridors reaching outward, and settlements scattered across wide, flat land that fills the edges of the frame.
The main road through Lafia carries most of the town's activity and gives the map a strong central line, with shops and houses lining it for long stretches.
An older, denser core sits beside newer areas with wider, more regular streets. The contrast shows clearly when the map is reduced to black and white.
Beyond the built-up area, the land opens into farmland and scattered settlements. This gives the poster a spacious edge and a sense of the wider region.
