Lagawe is the capital of Ifugao province in the Cordillera region of northern Luzon. It sits in mountain country, and from above its streets follow the valley floor and the lower slopes rather than any grid. Roads bend around ridges and settle into the gentlest ground available, giving the town a linear, stretched shape shaped by the terrain.
Ifugao is known worldwide for its rice terraces, several of which are inscribed on the UNESCO World Heritage List.
