Ko e mape
Lodi lies in the northern San Joaquin Valley, between Sacramento and Stockton, on almost perfectly flat ground. From above, the city is a clear grid of streets and blocks, with Highway 99 running along its eastern side and the railway through the centre. On the northern edge, the Mokelumne River curves past and widens into Lodi Lake, a park-lined body of water.
The countryside around Lodi is one of California's major wine-grape regions and is especially known for old-vine Zinfandel. Downtown still has the Mission Arch, an early twentieth-century gateway over Pine Street. The Lodi map poster shows the compact town inside its agricultural setting, with the ordered grid giving way to the long rows of the surrounding farmland.
Many people also know the name from the Creedence Clearwater Revival song, although the band's connection to the town was only passing. On paper, Lodi reads as a quietly structured place: a regular grid, a river with a lake on the edge, and open valley land stretching out to the frame.
The Mokelumne River widens into a lake on the city's northern edge. Its soft curves make a clear contrast with the straight streets to the south.
The old centre around the Mission Arch is a regular block pattern with the railway running through it. It is the densest, most orderly part of the map.
Grape growing surrounds the city on flat valley land. On the print, straight farm roads and field edges carry the grid out towards the horizon.

Ko e ha Lodi
Lodi appeals to people who grew up among the vineyards, to wine lovers who have visited the tasting rooms, and to anyone who likes a well-ordered small-city plan. The grid and the lake make a clean image for a kitchen or a tasting room wall.
