Ko e mape
Lopez is a municipality in Quezon Province, in the Calabarzon region of Luzon, on the eastern stretch of the province as it narrows towards Bicol. The town is near the coast, and its territory spreads inland across low hills, farmland and many small barangays. From above, the centre is compact, while the wider municipality is mostly green.
The town centre is a simple network of streets and small blocks, following a layout common to Philippine towns with Spanish-era origins, where civic buildings and the church anchor the centre. The main highway towards Bicol passes through, and much of the town's traffic and trade gathers along it. Side roads lead out to villages among coconut groves and rice fields.
Towards the sea the land flattens, and roads lead down to fishing communities along the shore of the bay. A Lopez map poster shows the balance of these elements: a small urban core, the long line of the highway, and the scattered pattern of barangays reaching towards both the coast and the hills behind the town.
Straight streets and small blocks form the heart of Lopez. The centre is compact and easy to read, with the civic core in the middle and residential streets spreading outward.
The main road through the province crosses the municipality as a long, continuous line, linking the town to its neighbours and to the route south-east towards Bicol.
Smaller roads leave the centre for dozens of rural barangays, forming a loose web across farmland and low hills that fills the edges of the map.
