Ko e mape
Maebaru-chūō is the central area of Itoshima, the city west of Fukuoka formed in 2010 when the former city of Maebaru merged with neighbouring towns. From above it is a compact built-up core on a coastal plain, with residential streets packed around the station and open farmland pressing in from the edges. Beyond the fields, wooded hills rise to the south.
The JR Chikuhi Line runs straight through the town, with trains continuing directly onto Fukuoka's subway, and it acts as a spine for the street pattern. Shops and housing gather on either side of the tracks, while main roads run roughly parallel to them. Small rivers draining from the hills cross the plain toward the sea in slim, gently curving lines.
Itoshima is known for its coastline and farmland, and the edges of the town show how closely the two sit together: a short distance north of the centre, the plain meets the sea. A Maebaru-chūō map poster records that balance of commuter town, fields and nearby shore in a single restrained drawing.
Streets cluster tightly around the railway station, the densest part of the map, before loosening into detached housing and small blocks toward the fields.
The railway draws a steady straight line across the plain, the backbone of the town and its through route into central Fukuoka.
Regular rectangles of rice paddies surround the built-up area, giving the outer parts of the poster a quiet, geometric grid of their own.

This map suits anyone who has lived in Itoshima or commuted from it into Fukuoka, as well as those who know this coast from weekends away. The town is modest in scale, which lets the texture of streets, tracks and field boundaries show clearly.
