Makkah lies in a dry, rocky landscape in western Saudi Arabia, a short drive inland from the Red Sea port of Jeddah. The city fills a network of narrow valleys between steep hills, so its districts take on long, branching shapes rather than a compact circle. Streets follow the valley floors, and where hills block the way, road tunnels carry traffic straight through.
At the centre is the Masjid al-Haram, the Grand Mosque surrounding the Kaaba, the holiest site in Islam and the focus of the annual Hajj pilgrimage. Its vast courtyards and expansions form the largest single footprint on the map, and the city's main roads, bridges and pedestrian routes are arranged to bring millions of people toward it.
East of the city, the valleys of Mina, Muzdalifah and Arafat, visited during the Hajj, appear as a sequence of broad open spaces linked by roads and a dedicated rail line. Several ring roads trace concentric loops around the centre. A Makkah map poster brings together this pattern of hills, valleys and converging routes in a restrained, respectful form.
The Masjid al-Haram and its surrounding plazas form the heart of the composition, a large open shape from which roads and tunnels radiate outward in every direction.
Rocky hills leave only narrow corridors for building, so neighbourhoods stretch along valley floors and the map takes on a branching, almost river-like pattern.
Concentric ring roads loop around the centre at increasing distances, their curves cutting across hills and valleys and giving the dense street pattern a clear structure.

Ko e ha Makkah
For many Muslims, Makkah is the most meaningful place on earth, and a completed Hajj or Umrah is a milestone that families remember for generations. A map of the city is a calm, image-free way to mark that journey at home.
Add the pilgrim's name, the year of the journey or a short line to the subtitle, and edit the coordinates text. Choose Classic black & white, Noir, Paper, Blueprint or Sand, as a digital file or a printed poster.
