Mārahra is a town in Etah district of western Uttar Pradesh, set in the wide, flat plain between the Ganges and the Yamuna. On a map it appears as a dense, irregular core of narrow lanes, with roads leaving in several directions across farmland. The absence of hills or large rivers means the street pattern itself carries the whole design.
The town is widely known for Marehra Sharif, the seat of the Barkatiya Sufi order, whose dargah and khanqah draw pilgrims from across South Asia, especially during the annual urs. That long religious role shows in the layout: an older centre of close-set, organic streets, rather than the regular grids of newer planned towns.
Beyond the centre, the lines open out into fields, village roads and scattered settlements typical of the Doab. A Mārahra map poster captures this contrast between the tight old town and the open plain around it. It is a quiet, detailed portrait of a place that means a great deal to the families who live here and the devotees who return year after year.
Narrow, irregular lanes pack closely together at the centre, producing the fine, intricate texture that black-and-white maps render especially well.
The area around the Barkatiya dargah and khanqah, the heart of Marehra Sharif, sits within the older fabric of the town.
Around the town, the flat plain between the Ganges and the Yamuna spreads out in fields and rural roads, giving the print a calm edge.
