Maribor lies on the Drava River in northeastern Slovenia, at the foot of the Pohorje hills. On the map, the river runs through the city from west to east, and several bridges connect the historic centre on the north bank with the districts on the south side. Vineyards and wooded slopes rise on the edges of the city.
