Meïganga sits on the high Adamawa plateau in central Cameroon, where open grassland and scattered woodland stretch in every direction. On a map the town looks compact: a loose grid of unpaved streets gathered around the main road that runs between Ngaoundéré and the eastern border country. Beyond the last houses, tracks and footpaths spread into cattle country.
From above, the pattern is simple. The highway is the spine, and shorter lanes branch off it into neighbourhoods of courtyards and small plots.
