Ko e mape
Mouzaïa lies in Blida Province, on the southwestern edge of the Mitidja, the wide fertile plain behind Algiers. Its centre was laid out in the colonial era, and the map still shows it: straight streets, rectangular blocks and a clear main axis. Newer neighbourhoods have grown around that core in looser, larger shapes.
Just to the south the plain ends against the Blida Atlas, and the change is visible from above. Farmland and orchards give way to rising ground and winding roads. The name is known in Algerian history through the Col de Mouzaïa, the mountain pass nearby that saw fighting during the French conquest in the 1830s and 1840s.
A Mouzaïa map poster captures that meeting of flat and steep. The orderly grid of the old town sits in the lower part of the frame, surrounded by the plain's field pattern, while the mountain roads to the south curl upward. In black and white it makes a balanced, clearly structured image.
The old centre is built on a regular grid of straight streets and rectangular blocks, the most geometric part of the map.
Around the town the Mitidja plain is divided into fields and orchards, forming a fine, even texture that frames the settlement.
To the south the land rises into the Blida Atlas, and roads begin to curve and climb, breaking the straight lines of the plain.
