Mucajaí is a town in Roraima, Brazil's northernmost state, located south of the state capital Boa Vista along the BR-174 highway. It takes its name from the Mucajaí River, a tributary of the Rio Branco that crosses the region on its way south toward the Amazon basin.
On a map, the town's grid of streets sits near the river, with the highway running past and crossing the water on a bridge. The river is wide and winding, marked by sandbars and islands, and beyond the town the land opens up into a mix of savanna, pasture and forest crossed by rural roads.
A Mucajaí map poster shows a town defined by river and road. The broad curves of the Mucajaí give the composition its main form, while the grid and highway add structure. It is a clear portrait of a frontier town in the far north of Brazil, between the savanna and the rainforest.
The wide, winding river runs past the town, with sandbars and islands visible along its course as it flows toward the Rio Branco.
The main highway linking Boa Vista with Manaus passes through the town and crosses the river on a bridge, a key route in the state.
The town's streets form a regular grid near the river, a planned layout typical of settlements that grew along Amazonian highways.
