Mvurwi sits in Mashonaland Central in northern Zimbabwe, a small town of roughly fifteen thousand people surrounded by agricultural land. The town was known as Umvukwes before Zimbabwe renamed many settlements after independence, and it grew as a service centre for the commercial farms of the district, with tobacco long among the main crops.
