Nalambūr, often spelled Nolambur, is a residential area in the west of Chennai, close to Mogappair and within the city's fast-growing western belt. On a map it looks like much of this part of the city: blocks of planned layouts with regular streets, each arranged around a few internal roads and connected outward to wider arterial routes.
Much of the area was farmland and open ground not long ago, and the street pattern reflects that recent change. Newer apartment complexes appear as larger single parcels, while plotted housing layouts form finer grids of narrow lanes. The ground is level, as it is across the Chennai plain, so the plan stays orderly and straight rather than bending around slopes.
Nalambūr's appeal lies in its location, with access to the city centre and to the industrial and commercial areas of western Chennai. A Nalambūr map poster shows the neighbourhood the way residents know it, as a network of layouts, main roads and corners that together make up home in one of India's largest cities.
Residential layouts form tidy blocks of parallel streets and narrow lanes, the dominant pattern across the neighbourhood and a clear record of how it was developed.
Wider roads run along the edges of the area and link it to Mogappair, Anna Nagar and the rest of western Chennai, framing the residential blocks between them.
Like the rest of Chennai, the area sits on low, level ground, so streets run straight without the bends of hill terrain, giving the map a clean, even texture.
