Nehram lies in the Nakhchivan Autonomous Republic, the Azerbaijani exclave between Armenia, Iran and Türkiye. It is in Babek district, on the low, arid plain that runs toward the Aras River. Mountains rise in the distance, but around the village the land is flat and farmed. From above, the lanes form an irregular grid surrounded by orchards and fields.
Irrigation makes farming possible in this dry setting, and water channels mark the landscape as clearly as the roads do. Houses with walled yards and gardens give the built-up area a close-grained texture. Beyond the edges, the pattern opens up into rectangular plots and long rural tracks.
