Níjar is a municipality in the province of Almería, in south-eastern Spain. Its old town sits on the lower slopes of the Sierra Alhamilla, with narrow streets and whitewashed houses rising towards the hills. Below lies the Campo de Níjar, a broad plain covered by greenhouses that appear on the map as a dense pattern of rectangles.
The municipality is one of the largest in Spain and extends to the sea, taking in much of the Cabo de Gata-Níjar Natural Park.
