Osmancık lies in Çorum province in northern Anatolia, on the banks of the Kızılırmak, Turkey's longest river. The river shapes the whole map. It curves through the valley, and the town's streets gather along its sides, with fields and rice paddies spreading across the flat valley floor beyond them. Hills close in from both directions and hold the settlement in a narrow band.
Two features stand out above the rest. A rocky outcrop crowned with the remains of a castle rises over the town, and the Koyunbaba Bridge, a long Ottoman stone bridge from the late fifteenth century, still spans the Kızılırmak. Osmancık is also known across Turkey for its rice, grown on the irrigated land along the river.
An Osmancık map poster captures that combination of river, valley and old crossing point. In monochrome, the water becomes a strong dark ribbon, the bridge a thin stroke across it, and the streets a compact cluster tucked against the slope. The composition feels settled and old, like a town that has stayed at the same river crossing for a very long time.
The wide river runs through the valley and gives the poster its main curve. Everything else on the map is arranged in relation to it.
A long Ottoman stone bridge with many arches crosses the river. On the map it shows as a clear line connecting the two banks.
A steep rock with fortress remains rises above the town. The terrain around it breaks up the street pattern and marks the historic centre.
