Peacehaven sits on the East Sussex coast between Brighton and Newhaven, on top of the chalk cliffs above the English Channel. Its map is unusual for an English town: a long, regular grid of straight roads running inland from the coast road, with almost no winding lanes. The cliff line forms a clean southern edge along the whole town.
The grid dates from the early twentieth century, when the land was divided into plots and sold, and the town grew with little of the organic pattern of older settlements. Peacehaven also sits on the Greenwich Meridian. A monument on the clifftop marks the line, making it one of the few places where zero degrees longitude meets the English coast.
A Peacehaven map poster is almost a diagram: parallel roads, right-angled junctions and the sea closing off the bottom of the frame. The coast road runs across the town, and the open downland to the north rounds it off. In black and white, the regularity is striking and far from what people expect of a seaside town.
Straight, parallel roads run north from the coast in a regular grid. At poster scale the pattern is crisp and unusually geometric for the south coast.
The whole town ends at the clifftop above the Channel. On the map, this is a long, clean line with open sea below it.
The prime meridian passes through Peacehaven and is marked by a monument on the cliffs, so the coordinates line on a poster sits very close to zero.

Ko e ha Peacehaven
Peacehaven's grid and clifftop setting make it one of the most graphic small towns on the English coast. It suits anyone who lives here, grew up here, or likes the idea of a home that sits on the meridian.
You can change the title and subtitle, and the coordinates line, which is a nice detail given the longitude. There are five styles: Classic black & white, Noir, Paper, Blueprint and Sand. HD files are $9, and printed posters can come in a wooden frame.
