Ko e mape
Peqin lies in central Albania, in the valley of the Shkumbin river between the coastal plain and the mountains inland. The town is small and compact, with its centre gathered around the main road and residential streets spreading out toward fields. The Shkumbin runs nearby in a broad, braided course, and farmland fills the valley floor on both sides.
The valley has been a route across the Balkans since antiquity, and the ancient Via Egnatia passed through this area on its way from the Adriatic toward Thessaloniki and Constantinople. Peqin later developed as an Ottoman-era town, and its centre still includes a historic clock tower and a mosque, reminders of that period in its history.
A Peqin map poster shows a town defined by its valley. The river curves along one side, roads follow the valley in long lines, and the compact centre sits between them. In black and white, the composition is simple and balanced, a clear portrait of a place that has stood on an important crossing for many centuries.
The Shkumbin flows through the valley near town in a wide, shifting course, adding a strong natural line to the map beside the built-up area.
Roads follow the valley floor, tracing a corridor that has linked the Adriatic coast with the interior since the time of the Via Egnatia.
The town's streets gather around the main road and the historic centre, forming a small, clearly defined cluster surrounded by farmland.
