Radevormwald lies in the Bergisches Land in North Rhine-Westphalia, on a plateau above the upper Wupper valley. It is known locally as a town on the heights, and it sits higher than most of its neighbours. The town centre spreads along the ridge, and the land falls away to the surrounding valleys and woodland.
That position shapes the map. The core forms a fairly compact cluster on top of the hill, and the roads leading out branch downhill along spurs and into scattered hamlets typical of the region.
