Sandnes lies at the head of the Gandsfjord in Rogaland, on Norway's southwest coast, just south of Stavanger. From above, the town centre sits on flat land at the end of the fjord. The water reaches up from the north like a long, narrow finger, and neighbourhoods spread along both shores and up the surrounding slopes.
To the south and west, the land opens onto Jæren, one of Norway's flattest and most intensively farmed landscapes, crossed by straight roads and field boundaries. To the east, forested hills and lakes rise quickly. A Sandnes map poster captures this meeting of fjord, farmland and upland in a compact frame, with the town and its harbour at the centre.
Sandnes grew as an industrial town known for pottery and later for bicycle manufacturing, which earned it the nickname of Norway's bicycle city. Today it forms a continuous urban area with Stavanger, linked by the railway and motorway running north along the fjord. In black and white, the water and hills give the map a strong, natural structure.
The narrow fjord runs north from the town centre toward Stavanger, a long band of water that gives the poster a clear vertical axis.
South and west of the centre, flat farmland stretches toward the North Sea coast, and its straight roads and field edges form a calm, open pattern.
Forested slopes and small lakes rise east of the town, where residential streets curve along the contours before giving way to open upland.

Ko e ha Sandnes
Sandnes suits people who know the pull of the west coast: families settled around the fjord, cyclists who ride Jæren's roads, or anyone who has moved away from Rogaland. The map brings water, farmland and hills together in a quiet composition.
