Ko e mape
Savona sits on a narrow strip of coast in western Liguria, with the Ligurian Apennines rising sharply behind it. The Letimbro river cuts through the city to the sea, and the historic centre gathers near the old harbour in a tangle of narrow medieval streets. Beyond it, a later nineteenth-century grid of arcaded avenues extends toward the modern port and the cruise terminal.
On the waterfront stands the Fortezza del Priamar, built by the Genoese in the sixteenth century after they took the city. It is a massive angular shape on any map, and Giuseppe Mazzini was imprisoned there in the early 1830s. Nearby, the medieval Torretta marks the old port, and the cathedral contains a Sistine Chapel commissioned by Pope Sixtus IV.
A Savona map poster shows a city squeezed between mountains and sea. The dense old town, the orderly grid, the long piers of the port and the river line make a rich composition, while the hills above leave the streets thinning out into winding roads. It is a clear portrait of how Ligurian towns have always had to fit into the coast.
A large bastioned fortress on a promontory by the sea, its star-like geometry is one of the strongest single shapes on the Savona map.
The river divides the city on its way to the sea, a straight, narrow line that separates districts and meets the coast near the port.
Long quays, breakwaters and the cruise terminal extend into the sea, giving the lower edge of the map a sharp, engineered outline.

Ko e ha Savona
Savona appeals to people who have family on the Riviera, who sailed from its cruise terminal or who simply like the look of a compact Italian port. The fortress and piers read clearly even at small sizes.
Add a personal title and subtitle, such as a family name or anniversary, and edit the coordinates line. Choose one of five styles, Noir works especially well for the harbour, and get HD files for $9 or a printed matte poster with an optional frame.
