Ko e mape
Shahrixon is a district town in Andijan Region, in the eastern part of the Fergana Valley in Uzbekistan. The valley is one of the most densely settled and intensively farmed areas of Central Asia, and on the map the town appears as a compact core of streets set into a continuous landscape of fields, orchards and village lanes.
Water shapes everything here. Irrigation canals, some of them large engineered channels and many more small ditches, run across the flat land in long straight or gently curving lines, and roads and rows of trees tend to follow them. The result is a fine, layered pattern in which it can be hard to say where the town ends and the countryside begins.
Within the town itself, the main streets form a fairly regular network, with houses built around private courtyards filling the blocks between them in the traditional Uzbek manner. A Shahrixon map poster captures the character of the Fergana Valley at a local scale: a working town and its farmland, drawn together by roads and water.
Canals and ditches cross the area in long lines, bringing water from the valley's rivers to the fields and giving the map its strongest directional pattern.
Residential blocks are filled with houses built around private courtyards, which appear on the map as a dense, finely divided texture between the main streets.
Beyond the town edge, farmland continues without a break, divided into plots and crossed by village roads, so the map shows the town within its agricultural setting.
