Shihezi looks deliberate from above. The streets run in long, even lines that cross at right angles, and the blocks between them are wide and regular. The grid stops where irrigated fields begin, so the edge of the city reads clearly against the farmland. On the map it comes across as a place designed on paper first, with every street set out along the same compass bearings.
Much of that order comes from the city's origins. Shihezi grew from the 1950s as a settlement of the Xinjiang Production and Construction Corps, and it was planned as a whole rather than grown piece by piece. Tree-lined avenues and green belts were part of the design, and they still show as bands of open space running between the built-up districts.
A Shihezi map poster keeps that geometry intact. Black lines on white bring out the proportions of the grid, the hierarchy between main avenues and side streets, and the way the city gives way to cultivated land on every side. Placed against the wider setting of northern Xinjiang, a city this orderly looks unusual, and that contrast suits a minimalist print.
Main avenues cross at regular intervals and divide the city into large, even blocks. It is one of the clearest planned layouts you can put on a poster.
Tree-lined corridors and parks run between districts. On the print they show as calm open strips that interrupt the grid and give the composition some breathing room.
Past the last streets, the city meets irrigated farmland crossed by field roads and canals. The boundary is sharp, and it frames the urban core cleanly.

Ko e ha Shihezi
Shihezi appeals to people who studied, worked or grew up there, and to anyone who likes planned cities. The layout is so regular that it holds up as an abstract drawing even if you have never walked its avenues.
Each poster can carry your own title, a subtitle such as a date or a family name, and a coordinates line. Choose from five styles, Classic black and white, Noir, Paper, Blueprint or Sand, depending on the room and how much contrast you want.
