Shoreview is a suburb in Ramsey County, north of Saint Paul. Few places show Minnesota's lake country as clearly on a map. Snail Lake, Turtle Lake and Island Lake, together with a scatter of smaller ponds and wetlands, break the land into irregular pieces. Residential streets curve around their shores instead of following a straight grid.
Interstate 694 runs along the southern part of the city, one of the few straight lines in the drawing. Much of the rest is made up of winding drives, loops and cul-de-sacs laid out to follow the shorelines, with parkland and marsh left open around the water. The result is a quiet, organic pattern where blue space shapes almost every neighbourhood.
