Ko e mape
Sikinos is one of the quieter islands of the Cyclades, lying between Ios to the east and Folegandros to the west. It is long, narrow and mountainous, with terraced slopes and dry stone walls across hillsides that drop steeply to the Aegean. Only a few hundred people live there year-round, most of them in the main village.
The map is simple and strong. The small port of Alopronia sits on the southeast coast, and a single road climbs from it to the Chora, the hilltop village formed by the Kastro and its neighbouring settlement, where lanes wind between whitewashed houses. Beyond that, tracks and footpaths fan out across an almost empty island, so a Sikinos map poster is defined mostly by its outline.
The island's best-known monument is Episkopi, a Roman-era funerary building later turned into a church, which stands in the countryside west of the Chora. On a cliff above the village is the fortified monastery of Zoodochos Pigi. Both are reached on foot or by track, which is typical of an island where the landscape still sets the pace.
The island's one main road climbs from the port of Alopronia to the hilltop village, the clearest single line drawn across the map.
At the Chora, a tight knot of lanes marks the old fortified quarter, where houses were built wall to wall to form a defensive ring.
West of the village, only tracks and paths cross the island toward Episkopi and the remote coves, leaving long, quiet stretches of the map.

Ko e ha Sikinos
People who choose Sikinos tend to love it for what it lacks: crowds, large hotels, noise. A map of the island suits that sensibility, spare and precise, and makes a thoughtful gift for anyone who has spent a slow summer there.
The title can read Sikinos or Σίκινος, the subtitle can hold a year or a name, and the coordinates line is yours to set. Choose Classic black & white, Noir, Paper, Blueprint or Sand, and download HD files for $9 in six print sizes.
